guide me in choosing that which has been extracted through this process of melting – both in His arms as well as
in His furnace of purification.  I offer it to be of some service to you and to transmit or deliver that which may bring
to you restoration, a reflection of Him and His love and grace and an echo of His voice.  I give it in
acknowledgment of my complete dependence upon Him, my total obligation to Him and in obedience to His

Thoughts from Betty
First – Happy Thanksgiving!  There is so much to be thankful.  I rejoice in God’s goodness, His mercy and His
healing and saving power.  No matter what we see in the news or the neighborhood if we keep our hearts and
minds bathed in the Word of God and His promises we will live in peace and gladness with thanksgiving in our
mouths!  Amen?  Amen.
Concerning Current Events
A lot of people both in and out of the Body of Christ are excited, dismayed, fearful, confused, saddened or anxious
over the election results and changes that are coming.
I want to share some of my thoughts as well as some of the emails I’ve received from others on these
concerns.  I hope it is a blessing to you and helps you to reach out in trust and faith to embrace God’s will for us.
I have to admit I was surprised with the outcome of our election for President of the United States.  But the
Lord had spoken to me a number of times ahead of time – and I shared it a lot with others – that we were to pray
and trust Him with the election,; and that we were not to be discouraged or shaken by whatever the outcome of
the elections were.  He reminded me over and over that He is truly in control and that I need to accept His will in
every area of life.
Here are sine Scriptures to confirm His words to me.
Daniel 2:20-21  Blessed is the name of the Lord, forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His…. He removes
kings and sets up kings.  He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.
Pr. 8:12,14-16  “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge and discretion.  By Me, kings reign, and
rulers decree justice.  By Me, princes rule, and nobles, all the judges of the earth,”
Ro. 13:1-2, 4a  Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God,
and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God and those who resist will bring judgment on
themselves.  For he is God’s minister to you for good.
See 1 Peter 2:13-17
Ps. 22:28  For the kingdom is the Lord’s and He rules over the nations.
Ro. 8:28  And we know tat all things work together for good to those who love God to those who are the called
according to His purpose.
So I am accepting that God’s will is unfolding now.  If it is He who sets rulers in position then no matter who
we voted for or how we feel about it – now is the time to thank God for His authority through those He sets in
office and pray for our President Elect, Obama.  I believe that with all the prayers of Christians around the world
going up before hand asking God to open the door for His chosen vessel to come to the White House then we
have received the answer to our prayers.
I will continue to trust God now as I did before the election.  I will continue to rest in His power and
authority over my life, my country and the leaders over me.
This is a lengthy email, I know.  I hope you are able to read through it to see what other voices are bringing forth at
this time.  Maybe you can read it in segments – a little at a time.
I pray that you all have a blessed day filled with gratitude to God, with assurance of His lovingkindness.
Betty

IN RESPONSE TO THE 2008 ELECTION
11/05/08
Hi Loved Ones,
There are many who are deeply disappointed in the outcome of the elections, especially because you fasted and
prayed and gave much behind the scenes.  I would like to share what is quickened to me in regards to the
elections.
THE CYRUS ANOINTING
As much as I wanted John and Sarah to win, the closer we got to election day, the more the following Word came
back to me; that the Lord would be placing a Cyrus type anointing upon whomever would be elected to lead.  It is
interesting that within our Christian interpretations, spiritually speaking the “Cyrus anointing” has been interpreted
to be an anointing having to do with governing wealth.  When we read about Cyrus in scripture, we understand
that Cyrus did not know the Lord in the same way that God’s elect did.  But through him, God chose to prove that
He alone is the One Who forms light and darkness, makes peace and calamity.  We learn through Cyrus’s story
that God is Sovereign.  Here is the Word the Lord gave me in regards to Cyrus:
WORD TO PONDER: OPEN UP THE DOUBLE DOORS INTO THE WHITE HOUSE 9/04/08
Through the winds of the prayers of My people, I am blowing open the double doors of destiny to carry My chosen
into new places of government. It is My joy to do this, for I have anointed them, even those Cyrus’ who do not
know Me. My right hand will uphold them to subdue nations and unarm their defiant leaders. I will go before these
leaders to make the crooked places straight. I AM the Lord and I alone form light and darkness, peace and
calamity. I do all these things.
Isa 45:7 NKJV
"Thus says the LORD to His anointed, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held — To subdue nations before him
And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors ,So that the gates will not be shut: 2'I will go
before you And make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze And cut the bars of
iron. 3 I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the
LORD, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. 4 For Jacob My servant's sake, And Israel My elect, I
have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me. 5 I am the LORD, and
there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, 6 That they may
know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other;
7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.'

MOVING FROM DEPENDENCY TO ACCOUNTABILITY
Our nation is in a financial mess, of which we were spared bankruptcy and total financial collapse by God.  My
husband always says, “When America gets a cold, the rest of the world gets the flu.”   This is a world wide
problem that God has chosen to address.  Spiritually speaking, God’s desire is that we become adults, not
dependants, and learn how to have self discipline which is the fruit of the Spirit. …The people and government
that He chooses to use is not ours to fight against.  We are the ONLY salt that the earth has.  If we dont pray our
blessing, covering and anointed help upon the leaders for this hour, then we are already bankrupt. If we curse
them with prophesies of judgment, then we will get exactly that.  We will get what we prophesy and reap the
results.  The road of judgment and vengeance always breeds death.  It is not God’s heart to kill and destroy, but to
give abundant life.  Yes He is absolutely severe to those who do not listen and absolutely kind to those who do.
But He remains our Good Father Who knows exactly how to raise up each child.  We must not let disappointment
cloud our vision.  We must gather what faith we have and spend it to pull across the current to get OUT of the
worldly spirit, and pray like our lives depended upon it.

Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns -- November 4, 2008:
Even though your nation and the world seem to be in utter chaos, you are not of the world. You belong to Me and
abide in My kingdom. Therefore, do not fear the chaotic conditions that you see or even that come near you, for I
am with you, says the Lord. Put your faith and trust in Me rather than reacting to what you see and hear. Truth will
prevail. You must walk by faith and not by sight.
Psalms 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his
descendants begging bread.

Beth Moore's Message from Nov. 4, 2008:
Psalm 118:24   This is the day the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it.
A few things I'm so thankful for on this election day, regardless of the outcome:
*We live in a democracy where we have the right to a vote and a voice. We have the God-given responsibility
to use both wisely and in the way that best reflects what God conveys through Scripture.
*God "works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will" and "according to the plan." Ephesians 1:
11
*Not only does God work out everything in conformity with His will, He has promised to work out everything for
the GOOD of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
*God sets up kings and deposes them and gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Daniel 2:
21
*We, the beautifully diverse family of God, are never - not at any time - powerless. Nor are we ever victims of a
system. Believing prayer takes us through doors we'll never be invited to enter and into judges chambers we'll
never grace. Take a look back at Genesis 18 once again with astonishment over the dialogue between God and
His servant and friend, Abraham. Rejoice that God is ever mindful of a faithful remnant. The Judge of the Earth will
always do right.
*Even if persecution should await believers in Christ or harrowing circumstances hound us, God will use
hardship to bring unity and purity to a people who need it desperately. The best of circumstances do not always
produce the best in the Bride of Christ.
*The living God is firmly established upon His Throne and there at His holy feet we can always find grace and
mercy in our time of need.
*No matter what happens today, we are GOD'S elect. He has elected us to show His heart and to walk in His
ways in the culture that surrounds us. We are called to walk in the challenging balance of grace and truth.
May we be filled with Christ's Spirit today and our mouths given to praise and to believing, receiving prayer.
God IS faithful and He has us firmly in His hand. We will not fear. We will not doubt. We will not hate.
"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves
rests between His shoulders." Deuteronomy 33:12
I remain your servant,
Beth

10 Ways to Pray for Barack Obama
Whether you are happy about this week’s election results or not, all Christians must unite in prayer for our new
president. Please don’t forsake this responsibility.
It’s over. We’ve reached the end of the longest, angriest and most nerve-wracking presidential campaign in
American history. Finally the “I approved this message” ads have ceased. The endless robot phone calls have
stopped ringing. The debates, and the annoying post-debate comments from “experts,” are history—until the next
election cycle.
More than half the nation is celebrating today while others are mourning. We are a divided nation, split into
unhappy fragments by abortion, gay marriage, global warming, a failed economy and an unpopular war. Those
who voted for Barack Obama have claimed a historic victory; some on McCain’s side are already looking for
scapegoats. Politics is politics.
But when I got up this morning, I turned all my attention to the fact that Jesus Christ is still on the throne. His
government is what is most important. Regardless of who sits in the Oval Office, the Bible says “the nations are
like a drop from a bucket” to God (Is. 40:15, NASB). That includes the United States. We may boast about being
“the greatest nation on earth,” but He who sits in heaven has a different perspective. Let’s take a big sigh of relief
now and remember that God is sovereign.

The Common Thread/Richmond Int'l House of Prayer
Wanted to send out a quick email with a prayer for President Elect Obama and share a profound moment with
Jesus I experienced very early in the morning on November 4th (Tuesday election day) that had to do with this
election and our job as the Body of Christ.   This has been one of the most charged elections we have had in our
nation.  The issues of life, future Supreme Court Justices and the definition of marriage itself hangs has hung and
still hangs in the balance.  Prayer meetings all over the nation (and yes, the globe as well) have been called that
we might humble ourselves with fasting and prayer before a holy God in our nations time of need.  Here at RIHOP,
we just completed over 55 hours of prayer in the last 4 days.  During our last 24 hour jaunt, I decided to stay up
with the night watch.  We were very careful to pray for the entire election process, but focused mostly on the Lord
establishing Himself in Righteousness in this nation.
In my own heart, the issue of the pre-born was and still is on the top of the list as God does not compromise
when it comes to life. In the midst of our cries for justice and for mercy on this nation and for God to elect those
that stood for life, I suddenly (and unexpectedly) started praying these words.  "Father, stay the tide of
wickedness.  Save Senator Obama.  Let there be a radical change in His life - let deep change come within him as
He sees You for who you are.  May He pledge allegiance to the Son of God, Jesus Christ and Him alone."  I was
truly startled and a little shaken because it came with a deep awareness that Senator Obama would become the
next President of the United States.  As impartial as I tried to pray, in my heart I was exceedingly partial to who
won the election.  THIS SENSE OF STANDING ON THE WALL PRIOR TO THE ELECTION FOR OUR NEXT
PRESIDENT WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED AT ALL.   I quickly checked the clock in the prayer room because I
knew it was getting close to time to go home.  It said 3:16.  It struck my heart and I thought that maybe it
referenced a certain scripture that I might pray for Barak Obama.  I went to Hosea, to Jeremiah, to Isaiah and
nothing stuck out.  And then, an epiphany - JOHN 3:16.  I could not stop praying this for Senator Obama.  "For
You my God so love Senator Obama that You gave Your only begotten Son, that whosoever (including Senator
Obama) believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
I will not presume that I know Senator Obama's faith level, but I do know when the Lord gives me a scripture
to pray.  I  realize that this was an assignment from the Lord - that we pray not only for the president elect, but we
pray for God encounters and dreams and visions to break in on him and his family.  We need to RESIST THE
URGE to stop praying and start accusing or feeling defeat.  The LORD is GOD and HE WILL BREAK IN.   He
cares for the issues in our nation that offend His nature.  We must be found in the right position in our heart before
Him and not leave our place of prayer.  Righteousness WILL roll down.
I want to reinforce this.  It is IMPERATIVE that the Body of Christ not abandon it's new found place on the
WALL OF INTERCESSION.  We need to continue to press into this as a lifestyle of prayer and fasting.  It is our
calling from 1 Peter 2.9.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may
declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Priesthood meaning those that stand in the gap on behalf of those that cannot stand for themselves.
Beloved, If we look at the results of this election as defeat, we will loose the true battle - for the souls in the nation
as well as the soul OF the nation.  For those that fasted and prayed for this nation...CONTINUE with the same
fervency.  It is on the heals of circumstances such as this that God has historically seen fit to release revival in a
land.  If HIS PEOPLE HUMBLE THEMSELVES and CONTINUE TO HUMBLE THEMSELVES and pray AND NOT
GIVE UP -- even in times of disillusion -- He will hear from heaven and heal their land.  Don't stop praying.  Before
ALL ELSE the corporate church is called to be a house of prayer.  Let us not make the same mistakes that we
have in the past when "our" candidate was not elected.  We lifted our hands and pointed accusing fingers instead
of lifting those same hands to a holy God that truly does hear our cries though we do not understand what He is
doing.  May His church be found on her knees!
I recently sent out a message entitled "the Louder the Thump the wider the door".  (resent below for
convenience). The Lord revealed that as we become untangled from the spirit of this world and pray,
righteousness would roll down like a river in this nation.  REVIVAL is coming.  We must continue to press in with
relentless pursuit of the King and His Kingdom.  Our job has really just begun!
Blessings to you.  Sherrie Moore
PRAYER FOR PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA
Father, we ask that you be with our country in this hour as we enter into the final months of one
administration and prepare for the next.  May those crying out for justice, especially for the pre-born, find fresh
strength from you in the place of prayer.  Please, my Father, continue to manifest Yourself in the midst of our
nation.  We pray for President elect Obama that you would protect Him from harm and that You would draw him
and his family into a deep and personal relationship with You.  We pray for God encounters in dreams and visions
of the night.  Will you, my God, bring Obama to Yourself.  When You knit him together in His mother's womb, You
had a dream for his life.  A dream that as he fulfilled it, it would bring glory to You and the domain of Your Son
Jesus.  Father, do not let that dream die.  Break in with Your light and Your love and bring the Barak family to such
a place that they accomplish Your will.  AMEN.
Romans 13:1  Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God,
and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
My comments:
I fully believe that the posture that we must take in our hearts is the one that removes us from the fray of wrestling
against flesh and blood and places us on our knees before the Lord.  We must cry out for the Lord to have mercy
on our nation and to establish His righteousness in the land.  We need to return to Him and choose Him.  We need
to understand what God is after, He is after a church that is awake, a church that is humble, a church that seeks
the face of God, a church that turns from wicked ways...He is after a Bride.
Please join us as we pray for a great awakening for this nation and for God to appoint leaders that will
release His righteousness in the nation.  And regardless of who wins, we need to RESIST thinking THE DEVIL
WON.  It is God who appoints, the question we must ask is "What are You trying to say to Your Bride?"

             Offense or Peace

James 3:18  And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God’s will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the
seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which
means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from
fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts.]  [AMP]

Pr. 18:19  An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city.  [NIV]
--  A brother offended is harder to be won over than a strong city, and their contentions separate them like the
bars of a castle. – [AMP]
--  It’s harder to make amends with an offended friend than to capture a fortified city.  Arguments separate friends
like a gate locked with iron bars. [NLT]

James 4:1-2  What causes fights and quarrels among you?  Don’t they come from your desires that battle within
you?  You want something and don’t get it.  – [NIV]

--  What is causing the quarrels and fights among you?  Isn’t it the whole army of evil desire at war within you? –
[NLT]

James 4:1-2  --  what leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate
among you?  Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?  You are
jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers.  [To hate is to
murder as far as your hearts are concerned.]  You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the
gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek]. So you fight and war.  You do not have because
you do not ask.  [AMP]

Pr. 19:11  A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook and offense.  [NIV]

-        People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrong.[ NLT]

-        Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it his glory to overlook a transgression or offense.  [AMP]

Life is full of occasions in which people will do or say things to offend, and when people will sin against us with
gossip, condemnation, rejection, mocking, falsely accusing us or lying about us.  But with every occasion of
offense there is an opportunity to demonstrate God-given wisdom and overlook the offense and forgive the
offender.  We have opportunities to love and forgive with every opportunity to take offense. God does not want us
to hold on to offense.  We need to let it go.  Cover yourself with the word of God as a duck covers itself with the oil
under its wings to waterproof itself.  When you are covered with the word of God and living out the truth of the
Scriptures you can be offense proof. Let rude words, offensive words, insults, criticism, gossip, and persecution,
roll off you like water off a ducks back.
When people neglect you, ignore you, when you are misunderstood, maligned, manipulated or mocked – shake
it off.  Overlook it.  Let it go.  Draw on God’s grace and don’t let the offense take root.  Don’t give it a place.
Refuse to be offended and forgive the offender.  Why?  Because as Pr. 18:19 says it hardens you.  You build
walls around yourself – like a fortified city.  You try to protect yourself from offense and end up keeping people out
– even the people who could encourage you, help you.  You keep out their love, their encouragement, their
comfort and their strength.  And it’s hard to tear down the walls once they are built.  It’s hard to get out.
With so many opportunities in life - good and bad - we may encounter more opportunities to be offended than
we do to be loved. But with every occasion to be offended we have the opportunity to forgive and to love.  God
calls us to choose to overlook wrongs, to reject offense and walk in love and forgiveness toward those who would
try to offend.
[AMP]

God sees our anger, our discord, our quarrels our hate as equal to murder. We would rather think that it isn’t
really that bad.  But Jesus said it is.  God has a better way for us.

Mt. 5:21-22  “You have heard…’Do not murder.’  And anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.  But I say
to you that anyone who is angry with his brother is subject to judgment.”

Eph. 4:30-32 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Get rid
of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.  [NIV]

God through His messenger, Paul, takes it a step further in the verses that follow verse 32 in Eph. 5: 1:  “Be
imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself
up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
How can we continue to take offense when a brother or sister fails us in some way?  Let’s look closely at the
Word of God and walk in love and forgiveness- walk in, live in obedience to God and His word.  Let’s be imitators
of God.  I know this isn’t a popular lesson.  But it is a necessary one.  I have received more criticism for messages
on walking in love and not taking offense than any other messages I’ve taught or written.  But God keeps speaking
to me to bring it out again.  It is important to Him that we learn the lesson of walking in love and the truth of not
taking offense.  Both are choices.  Let us choose God’s way – love, mercy and forgivness.

FAITHFULNESS AND FAITH
The Lord says, “I’m faithful even when you are not faithful.  But you have been faithful to Me.  I’ve seen
your faithfulness.  I know your heart.  I am faithful and I will continue to be faithful to you.  You can trust in,
you can rely on My faithfulness.
“Do not be afraid.  Have I said it and will I not do it?  I am not a man, I do not lie.  My word is true.  I am
the one true faithful God.   Put your faith in Me and none other.
FAITH
"I am asking you to walk in faith, real, true faith – complete trust in Me.  I’m calling you to walk in
purpose – My purpose and plan for you..  I’ve got something for you to do.  I want all of you – all of your
attention, all of your energies, all of your love, all of your commitment.  I want your whole heart, your mind,
and your will given over to Me.  Serve Me.  Minister to Me.  And let Me minister to you, and through you to
others.
“Offer yourself to Me.  I’ll take care of you.  I will provide for you.  I will never leave you desolate.  Trust
Me and walk with Me.  I’m taking you to a new depth, a new level.
“I’m asking you to walk in a new dimension of faith.  Believe Me.  Believe My word.  Trust Me in a way
you have never trusted before.  I’m asking you to put your life completely in My hands.  Trust Me for
everything in your life – for job, for ministry, for your children, your family, your friends, your finances –
healing, wholeness, liberty - everything and everyone in your life.  Put your life in My hands.
“Lean on Me.  Stop striving.  Stop looking in other places; stop looking for answers outside of My
kingdom.   Stop straining.  Stop striving.  Rest in Me.  Lean on Me and the truth of My word – not on your
own understanding.  I have something for you that is above anything you have ever asked or thought.
Believe and trust Me.  Put your faith in My faithfulness and be faithful in your trust.  Faith and faithfulness go
hand in hand.
"My Children, why are you so fearful.  Have I not said, “Do not be afraid.” ?  I say to you today – get rid
of all fear.  I have not given you fear; I have not called you to walk in fear.  Reach out and take firm grasp,
get a good handle on the truth of My word.
" I will not forsake you, neither will I leave you alone.  You are my chosen.  Remember My covenant
with you.
"There are two choices you can choose between now.  You can run to and fro in fear and trepidation,
listening to all the voices of the world, you can tremble at every new declaration – or you walk in complete
peace, trusting in and relying on Me and My promises to My children.  Which do you choose today?"

VICTORY IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS AND CALAMITY, UNREST AND UPHEAVAL
My children, Satan has been condemning and oppressing you with doubt and fear.  Now is the time
for you to remember My word - all of My word and rest in Me. Do not look at the world around you, the
circumstances that are coming to the forefront now and become fearful and faint.
Financial failures, slow markets, elections, high prices and shortages do not deter Me.  They do not change
My plan and purpose.  I am your source.  No matter how dark things look, no matter what dark sayings come
forth My power is not lessened.  I am not surprised or intimidated by what is now happening.  Don’t you be.
Rest in Me and My Word.    As you recall and rely upon My Word you will begin to experience a new
closeness with Me, a new infilling of Holy Spirit and My love will flow through you in a fresh way.
Victory is here.  Peace is yours.  Not because of any thing you do or say, but because My deep love is
present, evident and flowing through you and your situation.  People around you will see your God and His
love in you and for you.  Bring Me glory as you walk in the victory provided through the cross of Jesus.  Rest
in Me and trust in My word and step over into the newness of victory, the freshness of My love and My
presence in your life.
